I've done /dev/MAKEDEV snd0 , so that's not the problem What does dmesg show (related to sb0)? Mine is: sb0 at 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 on isa snd0: sbxvi0 at drq 5 on isa snd0: sbmidi0 at 0x330 on isa snd0: opl0 at 0x388 on isa snd0: >> controller snd0 >> device sb0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 7 conflicts drq 1 vector >> sbintr >> device sbxvi0 at isa? drq 5 >> device sbmidi0 at isa? port 0x330 You sure it's irq 7 on your soundcard? What's it configured for? My card uses irq 5. That would do it. See if dmesg says something like sb0 not found. Does "cat /dev/sndstat" return anything? Also, you could try pcm0 instead of the sb0 code. Patrick --- Patrick S.
