Hello, GDM -- does nothing, just gives a grey screen KDM -- exits silently Running kde by startx is fine, but whem I lock the screen I can never unlock it .. kdecheckpass fails to authenticate me. The latter has something to do with pamd.conf I suspect, but this is a *grey* area in my mind. Ptrs to TFM's of hints. 4.5 RC kde/gnome installed from distributions on 4.4 CD release.
