I see that different.
Its neither nasty nor its an hack ...

with the patch "make fetch" gets all needed Sources to compile the port.
So it has the Behavior the user expect.

The target is readable and not to complicated to add for porters.

so we gain readability and make functionality more congruent.
keeping the depended distfiles and sites where it belong.
