I agree. I believe that any serious attempt at a commercial distribution
will require a lot of frontend-utilities for x - ala what Red Hat has
done. The ones which first spring to mind are ones which newbies have
the most trouble with, for instance:
- Kernel configuration (it's simple enough now, but it could be made
  simpler)
- Network Configuration (bringing up interfaces, etc)
- Security utility(s) (enable easy maintenance of various security
  settings)

And so on...

To this end, I'm working off and on a x-frontend for ipfw, and if/when
done, will start work on a kernel configuration frontend.
