>Environment:
FreeBSD j1skb01lx.kc.frb.org 6.1-RC FreeBSD 6.1-RC #0: Mon May 8 18:03:19 CDT 2006 root@j1skb01lx.kc.frb.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/J1SKB01LX i386
>Description:
On 29 August 2005 the port shells/zsh-devel was removed (http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=1078555+0+/usr/local/www/...).

Perhaps as a consequence, on 30 April 2006 the port shells/zsh was changed from version 4.2.6 of the stable branch to version 4.3.2 of the zsh development branch (http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=551139+0+/usr/local/www/d...).

This new version, as any developmental software may, seems in practice to have more bugs and regressions compared to the previous (stable) branch. More importantly, the potential exists for more bugs and regressions in the future.
>How-To-Repeat:
Install and use the shells/zsh port as it has existed since 30 April 2006.
>Fix:
The solution, in my opinion, is to reinstate the shells/zsh-devel port for the development branch and have the stable branch on shells/zsh. This would likely be better for users, whose subsequent experiences would be more appropriate to their choices, and the maintainer, for whom ad hoc patches would be less necessary, perhaps unnecessary, for continued maintenance of each port.
