FYI: you can install a ported app like the gimp with /stand/sysinstall as
well, as another option.

You may not need to download anything, at least not directly. If you have
the ports tree installed,

picard# cd /usr/ports/graphics/gimp1
picard# make install
<...>
picard# exit
[johnnyb@picard johnnyb]$ pkg_info gimp-1.2.2_1,1

easy-to-install software in there.
