Hi everyone,

one question of high interest for me (and I think for the open source
community) is about what vendors and purchasers offer.

I see that SuSE does a good job in Germany. SuSE Linux is nowadays offered
by large purchasers and mail-order-houses like Comtech (a large
country-wide PC hardware vendor) or Conrad Elektronik (a large
mail-order-house selling electronic components, hardware, consumer
electronics etc.) Transtec, an approved hardware vendor offering anything
from traditional UNIX workstation accessories to printers and PC hardware,
sells Intel Linux servers ready to use SuSE Linux.

On the one hand, I welcome this trend. Some years ago, commercial vendors
seemed to move exclusively to the Windows systems. On the other hand, I
would much more like to see FreeBSD in that context than SuSE Linux
(especially *SuSE* Linux since this distribution frightens everyone with
some real Unix experience).

I'm rather interested to hear something about the corresponding situation
in other countries, for example in the USA or Japan or Australia or Russia
or France or ... - I must stop here since the list would grow to much.

Really thanks for any response!
