Your ATI Radeon requires version 4.0.2 or higher. I have a question posted on freebsd-questions myself today RE: how to setup XFree86 4.0.x with a Radeon (I've got a 32 Mb DDR Radeon in a system at home :) If you're subscribed to freebsd-questions, then I'd monitor it for answers to our questions.
