ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT COORDINATOR, ENTRY LEVEL

Dorland Global Health Communications, a full-service health communications agency, with offices in North Beach area, is seeking candidates who have served at least one internship in an agency or have one year of agency experience.  We also will consider candidates at the Assistant Account Executive level who have 1-3 years of experience in an agency setting.  Must have ability to work with and support a diverse team.  Our client base includes biotechnology, medical device, pharmaceutical and other health related fields.  

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications with basic knowledge of advertising and marketing.  Must be able to demonstrate a proficiency in writing.  Good interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills are required.  Successful candidates will need initiative and high level of self-motivation and ability to accept increasing levels of responsibility.  Must be competent using Microsoft Office, Lexis Nexis, and ACT!

Responsibilities include:

-	Opening and closing jobs and monitoring progress of projects 
-	Tracking and researching competitive media spending for assigned clients
-	Tracking competitive creative work for assigned clients.
-	Preparing reports/analyses such as status reports, marketing data, etc.
-	Keeping records/files as needed by client and account group
-	Coordinating external and internal agency/client meetings
-	Coordinating and preparing materials for new business initiatives
-	Provide other administrative support as needed – 20% of time will be devoted to office management.

Linuxcare is a growing San Francisco-based startup backed by key investors Kleiner Perkins and APAX Partners. Linuxcare has just launched its acclaimed Levanta™ enterprise software product in August 2002. Levanta provides critical disaster recovery functionality and doubles efficiency of system administration of virtual Linux servers on the IBM zSeries mainframe platform. A large telco provider (Verizon), and two banks (Northern Trust, and a New York-based investment bank) have installed Levanta since the launch. Licenses start at $150,000.

The Product Manager position reports to the VP, Marketing. The Product Manager will lead and direct the Levanta core team which consists of representatives from Development, QA, Sales, Marketing, Support, and Professional Services. Process and people skills are important when checking on development and test status in daily team calls. Problem solving skills are essential for managing weekly workshops on feature/function tradeoffs in order to bring the overall product offering to market. Structured, actionable communication is expected in weekly reports to management on the status of Levanta. 

Linuxcare provides a solid foundation of established tools and processes for the Product Manager: The market and customer needs have been captured in the MRD and customer council feedback. They have been mapped to the current development and test progress. Furthermore, marketing and technical white papers, product data sheets, and other collateral on the product have been produced, analysts and the press have been briefed, and pricing has been defined. Also, the process for handling pilot installations has been defined and is being separately handled by a dedicated client services team.

Requirements: The applicant will have strong experience in product marketing, ideally for an enterprise software company, or have a distinctive background as a project manager at a business technology consultancy. The applicant will have a great presence, lead teams well, communicate clearly, and work in a hands-on fashion. Applicants should have 5 years of experience and hold an MBA as well as a technical undergraduate degree. The applicant has "VP potential."
