Subject: strange time behavior after hibernation

On my 3.4R laptop hibernation works great, but when the
machine resumes from hibernation I get a message
like"the time in the real-time clock is invalid. Please
check and reset the time immediately" The time shown
with "date" is accurate, and when I run ntpdate to
double check, it is never more than a second or so off.
Any ideas?
