I'll answer my own post: I was doing the above via a *dialup* connection. 
So what I couldnt tell was that the new machine I was doing this on was 
trying to dial out to resolve the host name.

When I got home and tried it I saw immediatly what the problem was. Havnt 
had time to fix it yet though.
