Well, be fair - it says, to quote absolutely verbatim from the text:

The following CD-ROM type systems are supported at this time:
(cd) SCSI interface (also includes ProAudio Spectrum and
        SoundBlaster SCSI)
(mcd) Mitsumi proprietary interface (all models)
(matcd) Matsushita/Panasonic (Creative SoundBlaster) proprietary
        interface (562/563 models)
(scd) Sony proprietary interface (all models)
(wcd) ATAPI IDE interface (experimental and should be considered ALPHA
        quality!).

And if you look at the back of the CD, you'll see that IDE CDROMs
aren't even listed at all! I think we were pretty honest about making
it plain that this might NOT work for you.

I don't believe that this is one of the supported models, sorry! If
the atapi boot floppy didn't recognise it, then I'd say it's simply
not supported. Sorry!

I suggest the DOS or network installation, if possible. See the notes
on the inside CD liner for more information on this (or see the docs
on the CDROM itself).
