The CD being USB and not being able to boot off of a USB stick might well be related. It's possible it can't boot from a USB drive at all. My first thought on that is to check the BIOS settings: It's hard to believe a 64-bit box is incapable of booting off USB at all, but it's easy to believe that it's set to not be able to. Otherwise, I'd try looking at what other options you might have. Even opening up the box and temporarily attaching a SATA CD drive might be worth a try. Daniel T.
