I have a hack in place which allows ccsm to enable/disable plugins without causing compiz to segfault, so everything should be good. I am currently starting compiz as "compiz --replace ccp". The ccp plugin comes from libcompizconfig. If you are using intel graphics, you need to set LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=3D1 for compiz to run. i.e. "LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=3D1 compiz --replace ccp".
