This link exists on my system where I found this issue. Here is a transcript of a shell session demonstrating the issue. I also included some demonstration that the link from /usr/local to /rw/usr_local exists and is working (note that I have used slightly different directory names from the handbook example, so it is /rw/usr_local instead of /s/usr-local) I probably should have included this in the first message! F.e. I looking for gajim in the ports tree: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/ports.cgi?query=gajim&stype=all&sektion=all There is the message: "Last database update: 2012-11-11 10:45:48 UTC" And gajim version is at 0.15.2 (while it was already updated to 0.15.3_1) and gajim-devel still here. If I understand correctly, this may be related to CVS-exporter deprecation. Is this is a known issue and is there any plans to fix that? Thanks. -- Regards, Ruslan Tinderboxing kills... the drives. I found a workaround. If you do the following, the Bug disappears:

# cd /usr/ports/misc/freebsd-doc-en
# make install clean

The I proceed to do install the package that had the Port that had the Bug:

# cd /usr/doc
# make install clean

The install complete without error. This shows me there is defiantly a Bug in the
/usr/doc port, probibly a dependency it is unable to resolve.

This is on a new system that was just installed today, I had done:

freebsd-update fetch
freebsd-update install

portsnap fetch
portsnap extract
portsnap update

Prior to installing the
/usr/doc and running into the Bug.

As they still contain conceivably useful information, I want to move them into the doc repository. This would be easy, if only we had one repository and not three. So this loses history and is an ugly diff :/ The patch is here: http://people.freebsd.org/~uqs/roff_papers.diff It's basically - copy all sources over from src - adjust Makefiles to remove SRCDIR - connect to build I also filed this as a PR under: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=178730 Cheers, Uli From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sat May 18 08:28:44 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: doc@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E5E865A9; Sat, 18 May 2013 08:28:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gabor@FreeBSD.org) Received: from server.mypc.hu (server.mypc.hu [87.229.73.95]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A4D3A7B6; Sat, 18 May 2013 08:28:44 +0000 (UTC) Received: from server.mypc.hu (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by server.mypc.hu (Postfix) with ESMTP id A42A114D2508; Sat, 18 May 2013 10:28:42 +0200 (CEST) X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at !change-mydomain-variable!.example.com Received: from server.mypc.hu ([127.0.0.1]) by server.mypc.hu (server.mypc.hu [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id unDprm-ymovS; Sat, 18 May 2013 10:28:37 +0200 (CEST) Received: from [192.168.0.10] (54034B4D.catv.pool.telekom.hu [84.3.75.77]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-CAMELLIA256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by server.mypc.hu (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id EF75614D242F; Sat, 18 May 2013 10:28:36 +0200 (CEST) Message-ID: <51973BB7.3070600@FreeBSD.org> Date: Sat, 18 May 2013 10:28:39 +0200 From: Gabor Kovesdan User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/20.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Ulrich_Sp=F6rlein?= , doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: move roff papers from src to doc repository References: <20130518042340.GE2055@acme.spoerlein.net> In-Reply-To: <20130518042340.GE2055@acme.spoerlein.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 18 May 2013 08:28:45 -0000 Em 18-05-2013 06:23, Ulrich Spörlein escreveu: > So, to get groff out of source we need to first remove the roff > docs/papers as we will no longer build and install them. In your patch, I see they use bsd.doc.mk, which is not in the doc repository. I'd prefer having the Makefile code for these extracted into a doc.groff.mk or whatever and integrated into the doc build. The overall stuff should fit the existing conventions. Second version is at http://people.freebsd.org/~uqs/roff_papers_2.diff Does that look good? It makes things a bit more ugly, as we cannot rely on the system include path anymore. The doc.troff.mk is stripped version of bsd.doc.mk, and I'm not yet sure what to do with the install bits. What semantics should 'make install' have for docs in general. Also, do we prefer to produce Postscript output for these, or ascii. What about PDF, is ps2pdf included in the doc toolchain? Only partly and it comes from the nature of how we process our doc set. Having book.html requires to parse book.xml first, where all entity references are resolved and the document is also validated. This parsed XML is the output of further steps that actually generate output. However, Schematron constraints are not checked in this case, only when you actually run make lint. Also, do > we prefer to produce Postscript output for these, or ascii. What about > PDF, is ps2pdf included in the doc toolchain? In the doc tree we have a FORMATS variable, which determines what to generate. We support html, html-split, ps, pdf and txt. The default is set to one of the former two, depending on the particular document, but scheduled FTP builds build all of them and regularly update the doc set on the FTP sites. It would be nice if we could support the latter three in these papers, being one of them the default (txt, for example). Do you think it is possible? Yes, we have ps2pdf so you can rely on that. Gabor
