do you have to use mirror ?

you could download and install rsync (http://samba.org/rsync/)

if you want to be an official mirror (ftpX.nu.freebsd.org?) then you
can ask for rsync access to ftp-master.

otherwise you could use rsync to mirror from ftp2/ftp3 etc.

mirror 2.9 will use a fantastic amount of memory to mirror the whole
freebsd area, particularly the source trees. you might be much better
off looking at spegla, fmirror or omi instead.

you might also wander to consider installing cvsup to maintain the
source trees.
