At approx 0400 GMT Saturday May 18 morning, I am going to start the commit.
The code consists of major cleanups and significant performance improvements.
There is a chance of instability, but another person (who shall remain
nameless and blameless) has tried this code on a very heavily loaded system.

Let me know how it works!!! (when you can.)
