IBM did provide a fix for the partition 0xY5 (for all Y) problem in an updated BIOS. FreeBSD 4.3 works fine on my 600E, it just doesn't boot from the CD. However, FreeBSD 4.4-RC1 and above will boot from CD on the 600E. Mark Disclaimer: I work for IBM but don't blame me for the BIOS!
