About every other time when I boot my new 5.0 machine I loose the output on the console. The input still works, but nothing is displayed. I can login (by typing blindly). I suspect something might be racy in the console driver, the machine is a dual 2 Ghz Xeon, with hyperthreading disabled. hubba# uname -a FreeBSD hubba.netintact.se 5.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.0-CURRENT #1: Tue Aug 6 09:46:17 CEST 2002 root@hubba.netintact.se:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/HUBBA i386 Here's the dmesg output when it keeps the console display just fine: The place where it dies, if it dies, is when it says "Mounting root from", and as you can see, that line is garbled by simultaneous output.
