If the system has ATAPICAM enabled, yes, ATAPI CD-ROM drives will show 
up in "camcontrol devlist" as cd*, otherwise they will show up as acd*. 
  USB and Firewire devices use the SCSI layer, and will also show up as 
cd*.

[ One also needs to have usb, umass, firewire, sbp, scbus, and da 
devices enabled in the kernel for USB and 1394 devices... ]
