Hi, remeber the Zoltrix problem I was having with a friends computer?
Well, I put my modem where my mouth is, so to speak, and swapped
modems with him for a while so I can try to find out what's going on.
When I booted on my machine, I switched it to IRQ3 and COMM 2.
Unfortunatly it still doesn't work or I could copy and paste all sorts
of stuff for you, but I doesn't. Dmesg reports the modem as sio1 at
irq3 at the right address and the right chip type when booting, which
is unlike my friends Gateway, which didn't report it at all. I did
change ports and interupts though, this modem really sucks, but I'll
try asking anyways. What happens is this, I use kermit to connect to
/dev/cuaa1, and I can type modem commands and I hear it click its
little internal clicker and hang up at the busy signal (the phone
annexen here are always busy), but I get no output. So, I am pretty
sure its dialing, but I get nothing out. Does anyone have any ideas?
Again, this modem works under OS/2 and Windows 3.x, which I realized
doesn't say anything, but I can't have a conversation with him about
how cool FreeBSD is without him saying "But my modem doesn't work".
It gets annoying.
