There is portdowngrade, but i never tested. I do it:

# setenv CVSROOT freebsdanoncvs@anoncvs.FreeBSD.org:/home/ncvs
# cvs co -D"Apr 10 2006" samba3
# cd samba3
# make
# make deinstall
# make install
