For example framedroppings when using mplayer > with runtime cpu detection but not if built without it and so on. I used to use 464Mhz machine as my main desktop and it's noticeable lag/slow a little on mplayer if I don't use the 'WITHOUT_RUNTIME_CPUDETECTION' define. Also, use freetype will slow down that force me to use without freetype. When, I switched the machine to AthlonXP 2000+ and now I can use the freetype without slow down the mplayer, but I didn't play with runtime cpu detection so I kind of habit to use 'WITHOUT_RUNTIME_CPUDETECTION' define to run smoother.
