XF86 doesn't have this option, but my  Thinkpad T40 crashes when I
exit/restart X11.  I mention it here because I find it odd that
same HW but different SW causes the same phenomena...

What does pciconv -lv say?

on nbsd:
$ pcictl pci1 list
