That shouldn't be necessary.  Shortly before 4.5 was released, someone
"updated" the lang/perl5 port.  It now installs a "use.perl" program
that you can call as "use.perl port" which will replace the /usr/bin
versions and place the appropriate entries in /etc/make.conf.  A
"use.perl system" returns things back to the default state.
