Hi,

a large pr splitting the openldap 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 ports into -client and
-server has been pending some time now.

	http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=ports/54436

I would very much welcome this being committed soon for following reasons:

- FreeBSD 5.2 will bring all the necessary infrastructure for nss-ldap
  and we would like to have a lightweight openldap??-client port for
  machines that do not need the server.

- It's time now to commit the -client,-server split so other ports can adjust
  for 5.2

- I believe the KDE project would also welcome a lightweight openldap??-client
  as a dependency.

- We would like to have one maintainer for all the openldap ports to
  ease maintenance and have larger consistency between the ports.
  I will happily turn over my openldap20 ports to Oliver Eikemeier
  who authored above mentioned pr.

- Maintaining openldap in general is stuck before we get this major step
  of splitting the ports into client and server done.

Oliver is still on vacation this week according to his email bouncer so I
would volunteer to assist the committers in sorting out the pr in case
there are questions getting this committed.

<nagmode pressure="gentle">
So could we have a hands up on who would be interested in getting this
committed soon. We had some discussion when the pr came in but nothing has
happened since.
</nagmode>

Greetings
Christian
