Apology, got versions wrong (looked at a wrong location).

Nevertheless, my original problem remains:
can't have both the mailman and postfix 3.* at the same time:

   # pkg install mailman

   The following 3 package(s) will be affected (of 0 checked):

   Installed packages to be REMOVED:
         postfix-current-3.0.20151003_1,4

   New packages to be INSTALLED:
         mailman: 2.1.20_2
         postfix: 2.11.7_2,1
