Laptop Toshiba A30-212;BIOS Phoenix v.1.30; 512 Mb RAM; Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz; HD Hitachi Travelstar IC25N060ATMR04-0 60 Gb; 3 months old; Windows xp pro installed on a 10 Gb partition; another 10 Gb partition set for Free BSD; video card Radeon ATI Mobility 9000 IGP; CD/DVD RW Toshiba SD-r6112.
>Description:
First tried with Free BSD 5.0 and after the boot strap was loaded it got stuck. I thought my laptop doesn't support el-torito standard, so I downloaded Free BSD 5.3 and in fact it passes that point. when I get to the 'Welcome to FreeBSD' black screen I click on enter for the 'default' option and it goes:
/boot/kernel/acpi.ko text=0x3fbfc data=0x1c04+0x112c syms=[0x4+0x72f0+0x4+0x97c7]

Then the cursor keeps blinking and after 1 minute the system powers off!
If I choose boot without ACPI it waits a minute and it powers off again!
I'm lost. Do you know why it's happening? Thanks for any help I might get.
Regards
Gabriel
