Why can't KMS drivers be thrown to port (just like other ports which
install kernel modules) as well as be in base? That would clear the
issue for 8.4 and 9.3 and make it possible to update drivers for them.
There are already ports that replace base utilities, or backport
utilities that are in base in 10.x.
