Subject: sio driver problem in FreeBSD-2.0-RELEASE
Message-ID:  <199412192349.AAA17342@cony.gsf.de>

sio driver fails:
("normal" Taiwan boards w. INTEL 486DX-33 ISA; IDE or SCSI;
multi-io-card 2x sio 1x parallel 1x game, or 2x sio with 16550 chips)

- probe and attach section reports correct "16450" or "16550A".

- "cp <file> /dev/tty00"  hangs.

- "stty -f /dev/tty00 <option>" comes back normally, but subsequent
  "stty -a -f /dev/tty00" shows no changed <option>.

This behaviour occurred in FreeBSD-2.0R Floppy-Kernel and self-compiled kernel,
as well as in former FreeBSD / NetBSD / 386BSD versions.
In older versions up to FreeBSD-1.1.5.1, I replaced sio.c by the old com.c,
recompiled, and changed the major nr of tty's to 8, and all was perfect.
But now, com.c is removed, and major nr 8 is occupied by something else.

Any suggestions how to get sio.c running are welcome.

Thanks in advance.
