I just noticed my system's two IBM SCSI disks aren't displaying a "tagged queueing enabled" message. I only noticed it when I added a 3rd disk to the system today. Here's the edited dmesg output (the complete output is appended below): ... ahc0: rev 0x00 int a irq 19 on pci0.6.0 ahc0: aic7880 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 16/255 SCBs ... da2 at ahc0 bus 0 target 2 lun 0 da2: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device da2: 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 8, 16bit), Tagged Queueing Enabled da2: 4341MB (8890760 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 553C) ... da1 at ahc0 bus 0 target 1 lun 0 da1: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device da1: 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 8, 16bit) da1: 4134MB (8467200 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 527C) ... da0 at ahc0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 da0: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device da0: 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 8, 16bit) da0: 4134MB (8467200 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 527C) ... Now I seem to remember that these IBM drives used to be displayed like the Quantum, that is with the string "Tagged Queueing Enabled". I searched all the /var/log/messages files to see if any earlier kernel did display this, but nothing up to 4.0-CURRENT as of May 1999 displayed this string, and I've switched to running STABLE since. A search of the mail archives didn't turn up anything directly related to this, although one other person with the *identical* 7880 and IBM drive *did* have "Tagged Queueing Enabled" in their dmesg output. So it seems that at least I'm not mis-remembering this. I think. Thoughts? Thanks! -- Parag Patel Copyright (c) 1992-1999 FreeBSD Inc.
