Quite a trip to hell! (The story is 8 years old now.) From my own experiences merely trying to runit as a user shell, and not de-installing bash, I believe you ... I finally had to give it up as a bad job, and I'm known as a somewhat stubborn person, so that should tell you the level of problems I faced. Linux works only if you make their choices, just like their license.
