Yes, many (most? all?) of the packages available on the FTP sites
will have been built against the old versions of the libraries.
The packages in the ISO images themselves were built against the
correct set of libraries so the packages on disc1 should be safe.

Thanks to Kris for getting the disc1 package sets built quickly for
us.
