> Totally off-topic, but... One of the first computers I used was the DEC PDP-10 it allowed you to haves bytes from 1 to 36 bits each. That would be at the time that CCITT used octet. The CCITT would not have used byte as its did not mean 8 bits. TOday byte means 8 bits, (was byte a Borg invention along with EBCDIC?).
