freebsd definitions;
that worked : i read the man pages and it worked

now : i have been reading man pages more carefully
and cannot see what i have missed ...

versions : 
that worked : 3.x RELEASE

now : 3.x STABLE


i wouldn't waste ppl time asking about version 2.2.1 
or making stupid/unhelpful comments ...
