Meanwhile, I got the "nvidia" driver compiled, installed and running. Tests like % xlock -nolock -mode lament or % xlock -nolock -mode fire show the FPS rate I've expected (no comparison to the 3 fps I got with "nv"). In "gears" there are > 5000 FPS, that's _magnitudes_ better than with "nv". But my text font in Sylpheed as well as the one used in intclock is not a bit damaged (just chose a different one in Sylpheed so I can see what I'm currently typing).
