Folks,

I got a reply back from David Dawes. He said it will be included in
their new release (3.3.3). Their default /etc/XF86Config will also
have this directory in the font path.

So, this is our game plan. Ports that install fonts should put them
in ${X11R6}/lib/X11/fonts/local. If that directory doesn't exist,
create it, and print out a message asking users to upgrade to version
3.3.3 or later of XFree86, or add this directory to their
/etc/XF86Config. Run a mkfontdir and add whatever you want to
fonts.alias as usual. (Make sure you can deal with having no
fonts.alias in there.)

By the way, do not try to do "xset q" or anything fancy, it will break
remote builds and stuff.

Thanks!

Satoshi
