Your name resolution setup is wrong.  Make sure you have 'hosts' listed
before 'bind' in /etc/host.conf, and that all of your hosts and all their
aliases are named in /etc/hosts.

You might also want to configure a caching-only nameserver.  Consult the
'named' manpage and the O'Reilly "DNS and Bind" book for details on this.
