One more request is to make dhclient immediately go into the background if there is no link on an interface. I have a small local patch that enables this and it would be great to see this functionality in the tree. It does an ifconfig | grep status: on each interface in the loop if it is enabled for dhcp. If there is no link, it starts dhclient in the background since you are guaranteed that it will time out eventually. This fixes booting my laptop while traveling. -Nate
