From: "Yarema" To: , Cc: Subject: Re: ports/8754: KDE: KDM Display Manager has login problem...wont let users other than root log in Date: Wed, 18 Nov 1998 21:45:35 -0500 I had this problem right after KDE 1.0 came out. The problem is KDM doesn't set the path right and can't find kwm and friends. The problem went away after I put a usable PATH in ~/.xinitrc (or whatever, I don't remember, it's been working for a while :). Don't know if there's a fix or if this should just be documented somewhere. Since pre 1.0 releases didn't need the path explicitly set this seems to be a bug in KDM at least on FreeBSD. -----Original Message----- From: jrista@hotmail.com To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.ORG Date: Wednesday, November 18, 1998 8:44 PM Subject: ports/8754: KDE: KDM Display Manager has login problem...wont let users other than root log in > >>Number: 8754 >>Category: ports >>Synopsis: KDE: KDM Display Manager has login problem...wont let users other than root log in >>Confidential: no >>Severity: non-critical >>Priority: medium >>Responsible: freebsd-ports >>State: open >>Quarter: >>Keywords: >>Date-Required: >>Class: sw-bug >>Submitter-Id: current-users >>Arrival-Date: Wed Nov 18 17:30:01 PST 1998 >>Last-Modified: >>Originator: Jon Rista >>Organization: >(none) >>Release: 2.2.7-Stable >>Environment: >FreeBSD myname.my.domain 2.2.7-RELEASE FreeBSD 2.2.7-RELEASE #0: Mon Jan 1 20:19:56 MST 1996 root@myname.my.domain:/usr/src/sys/compile/BSDWITHSOUND >>Description: >The KDE KDM Display Manager has a login problem.
