If you want to add Motif to FreeBSD, then please recompile it from the source code instead of using the Metrolink binary distribution. Metrolink's binaries were compiled without XTHREADS support (using XFree86 3.3.5, probably). I made lots of modifications in the building scripts an in some configuration files that may be useful for you. -- Carlos A.
