You are probably right here, I just double checked, and I'm not running 
the SMC Elite Ultra, I have the Elite Plus.  Don't seem to need the 
patch, least I've been running for months without it fine.  However, I'm 
upgrading to the latest SNAP right now, so I'll see what happens....
