I have:

  #faster serial console
  BOOT_COMCONSOLE_SPEED=57600

in /etc/make.conf, and also:

  rasputnik$ grep 57600 /etc/ttys 
  # SERIAL CONSOLE: 57600 bps
  ttyd0   "/usr/libexec/getty std.57600"  dialup  on secure


The first does the bootloader, the second is for logins.
