The only problems I've heard of are for SMP. For single processor boards, the problems are entirely different. There aren't any absolute gotchas, but obviously, performance differs. They are not simple commodity items. If you're worried about performance, read Tom's Hardware page (pointers from the freebsd home page). If you're just trying to save money, nearly all of them work to *some* degree. If you're looking for a simple performance answer here, sorry, there isn't one. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@glue.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 213 Lakeside Drive Apt T-1 | Greenbelt, MD 20770 | I run picnic (FreeBSD-current) (301) 220-2114 | and jaunt (Solaris7). ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hardware" in the body of the message
