Yes, one has to consider these differences. I am running a single
user, single CPU machine with ordinary IDE drives. For me gnome1
was stable and functional.
Gnome2 is stable (no crashing, no freezing yet, Nautilus works
faster than ever) but installation and configuration easily can
become painful.

Please excuse my poor English. I wanted to say: Running an
experimental enviroment forces _me_ to ask many stupid questions.
