The installer images are usually BSD partitioned, so don't have an MBR at all.
This works everywhere that I am aware of.

It is only the installed systems that have a problem.

This issue is slightly different that I originally thought.

An installer option to set the active flag now makes sense to me, and I will
update the original patch from last October for inclusion.
