SCSI changers are generally supported.  I don't know if they mechanism
supports the standard, but I've used these on systems without changer
support.  You can do this by putting it in a mode where it goes to
the next tape on offline.  I believe amanda can use them this way in
gravity changer mode.  On solaris there's a -o option to ufsdump which
will cause the tape to advance after the dump by sending an offline.
