I had the irq set at 10 KDE 2.2's sound support is still a little flaky with this card (yeah I know, I'll upgrade to 2.2.2 as soon as I can), but at least now it works! Even on the non-desktop side, I now have sound in defendguin --hallelujah, that makes my kids happy, too! Many thanks for the help.
