See burncd(1).  I know for a fact that it works with:

 acd0: CD-RW <LG CD-RW CED-8083B> at ata1-master using WDMA2

Don't think you can use IDE CD/RW with any programs that expect a SCSI
drive, though (i.e. the atapi interfacve does not emulate SCSI, AFAIK).
