Am I the only guy around here who finds himself having to withdraw
objections on a regular basis? ;-)

I think the idea is cool. I'd just like the implementation to avoid
blowing up the current behaviour. If I had to flip a switch in make.conf
to keep things working the way they do now after your change, I wouldn't
squeal.
